The Cotton Room

The Cotton Room at Golden Belt is the latest venture by Michelle and Dodd Aldred, founders and owners of Triangle Catering. An all-inclusive event venue featuring innovative cuisine, expert planning and inspired décor, The Cotton Room will occupy an expansive 11,000-square foot space at the uppermost level of Golden Belt’s campus in downtown Durham. An impressive upfit to transform the former factory floor will soon begin under the direction of noted Durham firm Belk Architecture.

The space will be at once contemporary and in harmony with Durham’s downtown heritage. Original industrial character–including brick archways, mechanical pulleys, timber framing and a windowed façade that bathes the space in natural light–will merge with progressive design and modern amenities to create the perfect backdrop for any event. It will accommodate up to 440 people for weddings, corporate events and other large gatherings.

Michelle will oversee daily operations of The Cotton Room. Dodd will serve as Chef-Owner, responsible for the menu, which will be Southern-inspired, classically executed and distinguished by the chef’s own eclectic style. He will be joined by Chef de Cuisine Timothy Smith.
