Triangle Catering Creates a Work of Art

“Platos de Oro” Reception Designed for the Nasher Museum of Art

April 2, 2008 – When The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University wanted an elegant reception to accompany their upcoming Spanish Masters exhibit: El Greco to Velazquez: Art During the Reign of Philip III, they invited Triangle Catering to create an event package fit for a king.

One of the Nasher’s most significant exhibits to-date, El Greco to Velazquez will feature more than 100 paintings, sculptures and decorative arts including important loans from museums in Spain and several other countries. Triangle Catering was among only five select caterers invited to partner with the museum for this exhibit.

As with all events, Triangle Catering’s Michelle and Dodd Aldred did more than create a menu – they envisioned an experience.  “Platos de Oro” takes inspiration from the Spanish renaissance with stunning eight-foot vertical food towers and artful arrangements of delectables including seafood paella, yellow pepper gazpacho, pistachio scallops, goat cheese empanadas and hand-carved lamb chops with cherry mint sauce.

The event package is available during the exhibit dates, August 21 to November 9, 2008, for special gatherings and corporate receptions. Interested parties should contact Kathy Wright, Special Events Coordinator at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University (919-684-3321 or nasherevents@duke.edu) to book their event.

Michelle Aldred attends “The Special Event” and “CaterSource,” educational conferences for top event professionals
March 1, 2008 – Michelle Aldred, Triangle Catering President, returned to North Carolina with inspiration for the new year after joining other leading event professionals at “The Special Event” from January 16-18 in Atlanta and “CaterSource” from February 24-28 in Las Vegas.

The events offered attendees hundreds of hours of education, from lectures to hands-on workshops. Aldred dug in with topics including menu creation, event management and wedding design.

But Aldred didn’t spend all her time in the classroom. She also scoured the enormous exhibit spaces for the latest products – from fresh tastes to innovative décor.

“The most exciting aspect of these events was meeting other professionals and exchanging our ideas,” said Aldred. “At this level, attendees aren’t just following trends. We’re actually helping to create them.”

Introducing the launch of Flair décor services
March 13, 2007 – It was anything but business as usual at the March meeting of Triangle NACE, the local chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives. Members entered The Royal Banquet & Conference Center in Raleigh’s historic Royal Bakery Building to find spring in full bloom.

Serving tables sprouted lush green grass, while glowing candles, willow branches, long-stemmed tulips and pastel spotlights created a dramatic backdrop for Triangle Catering’s signature hors d’oeuvres, including shaken salsas served in martini glasses, flowerpot salads and freshly grilled salmon kabobs.

The springtime celebration was in honor of Flair décor services - Triangle Catering’s newest line of offerings. Flair gives Triangle Catering’s clients the opportunity to not just serve wonderful food, but to also create an unforgettable environment. Among Flair’s offerings are lighting concepts, signage, furnishings, music, floral decorations and multimedia effects.

Flair décor services are available immediately for clients planning their weddings, corporate events or springtime parties. Contact info@trianglecatering for more information.

Top-of-Table Challenge Lauds Triangle Catering with People’s Choice Award
September 12, 2006 – Even Ebenezer Scrooge couldn’t have resisted the charm of Triangle Catering’s Christmas table, which took the People’s Choice Award at the Designer’s Top-of-Table Challenge held by the Triangle chapter of National Association of Catering Executives (NACE).

Triangle Catering created a feast for the eyes with a twist on classic holiday décor, featuring contemporary place settings and a centerpiece of red roses and white birch branches. Topped with simple white votive candles, the entire display seemed to sparkle in the night.

Proceeds from the event went to support The Fletcher Academy, a private school for children with learning disabilities, which last year introduced a culinary program to its curricula, and to the Foundation of NACE, which funds specific educational initiatives identified by the membership of this oldest and largest of professional organizations for caterers.

August 20, 2006 – Planning an island getaway for your honeymoon? Triangle Catering’s exhibit at the August Bridal Showcase, held by Forever Bridal Productions Ltd., got brides-to-be dreaming of tropical breezes with a display that was both elegant and exotic.

And, clearly, the other vendors were impressed as well, bestowing the coveted Vendor’s Choice Award on the exhibit. In total, one hundred and forty-five businesses competed for the prize.

Lush foliage, spectacular florals and edible conversation pieces—palm trees encrusted with delicacies—created a winning atmosphere that was, well, simply paradise.
